1 Kings 17:14 NKJV
For thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’”
Elijah ministered to a widow in Zarephath who was running out of food. She only had flour and oil left for one more meal. Apparently, these two items were staples for the woman and her son because God made sure she did not run out of them.
Spiritual Parallel: Just as oil was necessary for the physical sustenance of the widow and her son, spiritual oil is necessary for our spiritual sustenance. Just as God made sure the natural oil did not run out when the woman followed His instructions, He has provided spiritual oil enough for us as long as we are on earth. We must follow His instructions to keep enough oil in our jars (spirits).
