One hot Saturday afternoon, the VCC Evangelism team traveled to the Sugar Creek area to share the love of God and the gospel of the Kingdom with all who would lend their ears. The Sugar Creek area in Charlotte, NC has one particular intersection near I-85 that is known for high crime and prostitution activity according to local news sources WFAE 90.7 and Queen City News. The VCC Evangelism Team was stationed right near that intersection on Saturday, August 12th.
During the outing, the team canvassed the area, offering prayer and encouragement to the many people passing through the area on foot, in their vehicles, and even in wheelchairs! The team was fully equipped with their tent, chairs, tables, loudspeakers, a microphone, their signature “No Greater Love” yellow t-shirts, and their infamous yellow “Need Prayer?” posters.
Minister Tracy Davis ministered on the microphone to those who were close enough to hear the loud speakers and one gentleman in particular decided to take action on what he heard. Check out this testimony:
A man pulled up and asked if we pray for people. After telling him “Yes”, I directed him to the parking lot and was led to have Dr. Metcalf pray for him. He wanted prayer for his clogged ear and housing. Doctor Metcalf prayed for his request, then I was led to touch his ear and yell " Can you hear this?” which I kept doing until he could hear clearly. Then after he said he could hear, he shared with me why he came to us. He stated he was across the street at the gas station, and he heard Minister Tracy Davis mention “Put your hand on your ear.” So, he did and then left the gas station to get on the highway. As he went down the road, he decided to turn around and come over to us to get prayer for his needs.
Many others pulled over to listen as Minister Tracy Davis preached God’s Word that day. The team was able to give out book bags, food, and personal hygiene bags, as well as several Bibles. Four people received salvation and three people rededicated their lives to Christ that day, and to that, we say, “To God be the glory!”
We thank God for the impact that is being made in the Sugar Creek area, and we also thank Him for the devotion of the evangelism team as they share their love of God and humanity with others.
