Parents voiced their outrage after a high school teacher hosted a drag show for students. Kelly Tyson, who is a French teacher at Hempfield High School in Landisville Pennsylvania, invited performers to the high school for a special presentation. The drag show was held for the school’s Gay- Straight Alliance club and was hosted without consent or knowledge from students’ parents. The male performers were dressed in scantily clad outfits including two men wearing thongs and platform heels. The performance was only made public after a video of the event was posted online. Parents expressed anger at a recent school board meeting. Some called the event obscene and an attempt to groom underage students. Supporters of the event scolded parents claiming there was nothing wrong with the presentation. The school board has suspended the teacher Kelly Tyson and has launched an investigation into the incident. The Hempfield school district later apologized for the drag show saying the board did not give permission for the event to be held on school grounds.
