Children charged with assault over gender pronouns
Three children in Wisconsin are facing charges for sexual harassment according to school officials. The three boys are accused of sexual harassment for not referring to another student by the child’s preferred gender pronouns. The incident occurred at Kiel Middle School in Wisconsin. A parent who spoke to the media says she was informed by the school that her son would be investigated for sexual harassment because he did not refer to his classmate as they or them as the other student had requested. The mother and parents of the other students say they are outraged over what they call an abuse of federal law by school officials. The school officials claim the children will be charged under Title IX. This federal law is used in cases of sexual assault and dating violence. The parents, who are now threatening to sue have released a statement through their attorneys. Attorneys for Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty say the school district’s claims have no legal merit and the charges should be dropped. SNBC NEWS will update you on this case as it continues.
