Satanist allowed to open Nevada commissioner meeting with “prayer”
Critics are protesting a recent incident at a Nevada county commissioners meeting.
The Washoe County Commissioners allowed a Satanist to open their meeting with a Satanic ritual chant. Jason Miller, founder of Reno Satanic gave the invocation. Miller during the invocation saying in part, “praise the name of the eternal rebel against tyrannical authority… nobility and justice to decisions made today…for our liberation here and now is our day of joy…hail Satan.” A county commissioner, who previously supported prayer at the start of meetings stormed out in protest. The commissioner board says the invocation is open to all faith leaders no matter their belief. Critics including commissioner members say they did not appreciate Mr. Miller’s remarks and it was disrespectful to the Judeo-Christian foundation of the U.S. Supporters claim Miller followed the rules required to pray at board meetings.
Pastor arrested for housing homeless in church facility
A pastor in Ohio, according to supporters, is being persecuted for helping those in need. Pastor Chris Avell was charged for helping the homeless and the poor in his community. According to city officials, the pastor has violated several zoning codes and city ordinances by having a homeless shelter in the church’s facility.
First Liberty Institute and two other law firms in Ohio have filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of Dad’s Place Church and Pastor Chris Avell. Attorneys for the pastor and the church want a temporary restraining order granted to the church citing a violation of the church and the pastor’s First Amendment Rights. The pastor says that he is only trying to show the love of God to people in his community. City officials have denied harassing the pastor and Dad’s Place Church. SNBC NEWS will continue to update you on this story as it continues.

The snowy conditions did not stop 100-thousand supporters from attending the event. SNBC News had a special correspondent attend the event, Kristen Jackson. Kristen (VCCS Class of 2021) was on hand for the March for Life along with two other young women who grew up at VCC, Mattelyn Chapman (VCCS Class of 2023) and Avari Mason. The now college students participated in the march to show their support to protect the unborn. The event featured prominent guests who encouraged those present to continue the fight to protect the lives of unborn children. SNBC Health report: weightlifting and its positive effect on health
Some health experts believe weightlifting is important to help maintain a healthy body, especially as we age. According to an article published on Mercola.com, weightlifting is more about muscle health and its benefits. Weightlifting can improve metabolism, cognitive health and mental health. It protects the heart, which is considered a muscular organ. Strength training just one hour per week or less can reduce the risk of heart issues and stroke by up to 70 percent according to experts. This can be incorporated into the recommendations from the CDC which is 2.5 hours of intense aerobic exercise per week. Weight training can help lower risks associated with other health issues such as Type 2 diabetes, and high cholesterol. It also helps with lower inflammation, osteoporosis, and promotes brain health. When adding weights to your health regimen start off slow if needed and adjust according to your workout and strengthen level.
