UN Vote results on resolution recently passed calling for ceasefire

UN Security Council demands ceasefire in Gaza Strip
The United Nations Security Council has demanded that Israeli forces and terrorist group Hamas end their conflict. The council recently issued a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire between the two sides. The resolution was announced Monday March 25th and was issued without a vote from the U.S. The United States, one of Israel’s strongest allies, abstained from the vote. The US delegation had previously vetoed and abstained from voting on several previous resolutions. The Israeli prime minister had previously announced a meeting in Washington, D.C. would be cancelled if the U.S. did not use their veto power. The prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has cancelled his meeting following the announcement. The nation of Israel was attacked by the terrorist group Hamas on October 7th over one-thousand civilians were killed and several hundred were kidnapped in the attack. The U.N. resolution also called for the release of all hostages. Israeli officials have vowed to keep fighting until Hamas is destroyed.
