Elementary school students denied afterschool prayer club
A school is being criticized for not allowing a faith-based school club. Two students and their parents are demanding their school allow an interfaith prayer club. The students attend Creekside Elementary in Washington State. The two students say they were denied the opportunity to start the interfaith club on the school’s grounds after the principal claimed there were no more funds to allocate towards the club. The principal later offered the students to rent a space at the school for the same rate as an outside group. The students claims following the denial the school announced the start of an LGBT club. The two student and their parents are now being represented by First Liberty Institute.
