California Governor approves of Islamic holidays in state
The state of California’s Governor has a signed a law recognizing two Islamic holidays. Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a law that will recognize two Islamic holidays as state holidays. Critics point out that California’s state government does not officially recognize any other religion. One critic called recognizing the holidays pandering for votes. Critics have also accused California’s politicians of seeking an alliance with Islamic organizations to solidify the Democratic party in California’s “woke base”. Muslims make up one percent of California’s population, while Christians make up 55 percent of the population and Jewish citizens make up three percent of that state’s population.
Court rules in favor of religious symbols being saved from destruction
A Christmas nativity scene and Cross will be saved in LA after a court battle. The cross and nativity scene are a part of a historic Latino community display in an area called “El Pueblo”. The Cross was erected in 1929 as part of a celebration of the founding of Los Angeles. An atheist in the city sued claiming; the religious displays were a violation of the law and needed to be taken down. The case was rejected by one court and later dismissed again by a federal appeals court. A group of merchants in the El Pueblo shopping district and a legal religious liberty group known as Becket took on the case to save the historic landmarks. Representatives from Becket praised the decision and commented that the Constitution does not require the erasing of historical landmarks because they are religious in nature.
SNBC Health Report: doctor advises removing sugar from diet
A doctor says that sugar is the most dangerous substances and the source of all chronic issues. Sugar addiction specialist Dr. Vincent Pedre says that sugar is the source behind multiple health issues within the body. From heart disease to Alzheimer’s to diabetes, the doctor says all of these issues can be linked back to high sugar consumption. He also says that the average American is addicted to sugar. Pedre makes this statement mainly because of the way he says sugar is used in American foods. According to the doctor, it is literally in everything processed in the American food market. His solution and advice are simple and may even be considered radical: Cut out all sugar from your diet. Especially with so many products that include sugar here in the U.S., this seems like a challenge, but he says the long-term effects are the goal. Dr. Pedre advised eating whole fruit as an alternative to sugar and also limiting the amount of fruit intake, when possible.
