If you are a member of Victory, you’ve heard our pastor make comments about hydrating your brain, when you having a mental block (being forgetful or tired) on a few occasions. The importance of hydrations and the human brain is not only essential, but important to cognitive function. The brain is made up of 75 percent water and when you are not hydrated it slows down cognitive processing. Brain or mental fog and fatigue could be symptoms of mild dehydration. Hydration in the brain effects memory, focus, mental clarity and oxygen levels. Most experts suggest at least 8 glasses of water per day. Some recommend up to 11 or 15 per day. This number does include foods that are majority water. Fruits like watermelon, strawberries, and vegetables such as zucchini, celery and radishes all contain high amounts of water that add to your daily water intake.
