SNBC NEWS International Trip: VCC South Korea Trip
SNBC NEWS ANCHORS, Wendy Chaplin and Treva Farmer had the honor of traveling with 23 others from Victory to South Korea recently. It was a life-changing experience, and we’d just like to share some of the highlights of our trip and how it impacted us.
Story from the perspective of Treva Farmer:
Our primary objective was to attend a prayer conference at Blessing Flower Church in Uijeongbu South Korea, which is north of Seoul, the capital. Upon completion of this two-day class, we were all awarded certificates by Pastor Choi. We also attended a Billy Graham Crusade featuring Will Graham, Billy Graham’s grandson, who delivered a powerful message of salvation to more than 21,000.
Graham related the spiritual condition of many to ignoring a gps and continuing down a wrong road in life.
“We often think the navigation is wrong and insist on the wrong path we’ve chosen ourselves,” he said. He called turning to Christ “the one and only right direction in life.”
Organizers report thousands gave their lives to Christ, and we were there to witness it.
Among the many other adventures in Christ, we had during our six-day visit were a visit to Prayer Mountain, established by Dr. Paul Yonggi Cho. Dr. Cho reportedly built the largest church in the world in the 1990s, Yoido Full Gospel Church, with more than 700,000 members.
We also visited the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), the line between South Korea and Communist North Korea and learned a great deal about the history of the division and their relationship with the U. S.
For a little enjoyment, we dressed up like the royalty we are and visited the King’s castle. And finally, we enjoyed several fun shopping outings.
But perhaps the highlight of our visit was the love shown to us by the members of Blessing Flower Ministry. They showered us continually with Korean cuisine (three meals per day) and gifts, so much so, that we were truly humbled and amazed at what I summed up as an addiction to giving.
Wendy Chaplin also spoke on the outpouring of love and kindness from Blessing Flowers Church, the beauty of the county, and the power of prayer which is evident is the county and God’s protection over South Korea. The anchors also encouraged the audience to pray, not only for the people of South Korea, but for the salvation of North Korea’s leaders, and use that motivation to continue to pray for the U.S.
