Christians killed in Haitian capital
News is continuing to come out of the nation of Haiti following one of the worst massacres in that nation’s capital. According to reports 47 people were killed during an attack on a church in the capital of Port-Au-Prince. The reports also claim 50 more people were kidnapped by the same group from a nearby neighborhood. The attack is part of ongoing persecution against Christians in Haiti. One pastor says Christians are the last group in the nation that cannot be controlled by gang members which is the reason for escalating attacks. The gang violence in Haiti has displaced over one million people and have been linked to the deaths of over three thousand people between January and June of this year.
School organization settles with Christian teacher
A school organization in Tennessee has agreed to terms with a former employee. KIPP Nashville has agreed to remove all pro-LGBT books from all school libraries across their jurisdiction according to a recent settlement. The announcement comes after a teacher, Eric Rivera, a teacher at Antioch College Prep Elementary School refused to read a pro LGBT book to his first-grade class. Rivera was disciplined by the school and given an ultimatum to read the book. The teacher reached out to attorneys at First Liberty after being denied religious exceptions for reading the book. KIPP Nashville, which oversees the school, agreed to remove the books and allowed teachers to also opt out of reading books that are a contradiction to their religious beliefs. Mr. Rivera’s record has also been cleared of the incident. The teacher remarked that he was pleased with the results of the case. KIPP Nashville has not commented on the case.
US/ Iran Conflict updates
As the conflict with Iran continues, President Trump continues to weigh his options against that nation. The president remarked to press that the US is winning the conflict over the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian officials attempted to shut down the strait which is the route for a large amount of oil being shipped out the Middle East. This attempted shut down was following the bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities. The US responded by again bombing and attacking Iranian forces. The president says that he will never allow Iran to have a nuclear weapons program and is considering periodic attacks to keep their attempts to rebuild the program.
