NC Attorney General’s office pushes for a continued ban on time frame for abortions in state
North Carolina’s attorney general is asking the court not to reinstate a 20 week ban on abortion.
The request to allow abortions after 20 weeks stems from a 2019 case. The previous case resulted in an injunction banning North Carolina from restricting abortions after 20 weeks. The justice in the case has asked both sides to submit arguments supporting why the case should continue. The justice, William Osteen remarked the recent repeal by the US Supreme Court now shows no strong legal argument to lift the injunction. Supporters of the ban on abortion after 20 weeks in this state say a ruling by the justice would end the political posturing of this case by its plaintiffs and the attorney general’s office.  According to reports, the state attorney general Josh Stein has recused himself from the case referencing his support of abortion rights. Leaders in this state say his political beliefs are interfering with Stein’s job as the state’s top attorney. Both parties according to a recent article do not want further action in this case. (Supporters want a final ruling only to end the support of litigation from the justice not a full trial hearing, etc. on the matter.)

Florida Christian school sues for right to pray in public arenas
A Christian school has sued for the right to pray before public sports events. Attorneys for Cambridge Christian School have filed a lawsuit following a ban by Florida High School Athletic Association. The organization (FHSA) claims the stadium in Florida where the school’s championship football game was played (the Citrus Bowl stadium) was owned by the city and praying would be a violation of the Constitution. The game, which was between two private Christian schools occurred in 2015. Seven years later several cases including a recent victory for a football coach fired for praying after football games is helping the private schools’ case. Attorneys for the school say the US Supreme Court has continued in recent years to affirm discrimination based on religious beliefs is unconstitutional. Jesse Panuccio, part of the school’s legal counsel says attorneys for the school believe after seven years the courts will finally vindicate Cambridge Christian and that the Constitution will prevail.

NC Congresswoman arrested at Pro-Abortion protests
Protests have continued to escalate following the repeal of Roe v. Wade by the US Supreme Court. Several Congressman have been arrested for being involved in pro-abortion protests. North Carolina representative Alma Adams was arrested along with 17 other members of Congress during a protest recently along with abortion rights advocates. North Carolina Representative Dan Bishop criticized Adams for the arrest commenting that she should not be a part of protest especially during a time when Supreme Court justices have been threatened. Adams was released hours later and was able to vote on a measure in Congress the same day. Representative Alma Adams defended the arrest claiming she protested because there are women and girls in her and her colleague’s (Bishop’s) district that care about abortion rights. Alma Adams was also arrested previously during a protest concerning raising the minimum wage in the 90s. This protest is the same event that several Congressmen claimed to be arrested but were never handcuffed as part of an alleged publicity stunt. There is no word if Adams will be charged with a crime for participating in the protest.

Law firm announces historic win for Health care workers
Liberty Counsel has announced a historic win for 500 health care workers. The group of former and current health workers filed a lawsuit against NorthShore University Health system concerning COVID mandates. The plaintiffs in the case say they were discriminated against for requesting religious exemptions to be excluded from being required to take the shot by the healthcare company. Attorneys for the group say this equaled religious discrimination. A justice ruled in favor of the group agreeing that they were discriminated against. NorthShore has agreed to settle the case out of court for a total of $10.3 million dollars. The company has also agreed to change its no religious accommodations clause in its policy. Positions will also not be limited to employees who have been granted religious exemption. Former employees fired over the controversy will also be allowed to apply for rehire 90 days after the final settlement has been approved. According to the law firm each employee that was fired will receive about 25 thousand dollars; those that were forced to take the shot to keep their jobs will receive three thousand dollars in the settlement. Founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel Mat Staver called the settlement “a wake-up call” to employers who refused to grant religious exemptions to employees over the COVID shot.

Christians awarded for persecution on jobs in UK
Two Christians have one their cases citing discrimination in the UK. A Christian who worked at a factory was fired after he refused to remove his cross necklace. The man says he was fired for no other reason except refusing to remove the necklace. The supervisor claimed the necklace was a hazard on the job, but never filed the proper paperwork to have the employee’s necklace deemed a hazard or approved as an exception due to his religious beliefs. The man was awarded 30-thousand dollars by a British employment tribunal. Another Christian also won her case in January of this year. The woman, who worked as a nurse, says she was victimized for wearing a cross on the job. She had previously worked wearing the cross with no issues until recently and noted she had worn the necklace for over 40 years. A solution in that case is expected sometime before the end of this year.

This nutrient is one of the essential seven minerals the human body cannot function without. It is necessary to the function of several organs including the heart, kidneys, and muscles. It helps with cognitive issues and regulates oxygen delivery throughout the body. Magnesium assists in keeping arteries healthy, which is essential to blood flow to the heart and throughout the body. Three US states celebrate closing of all abortion clinics
Three state governments are celebrating the closing of the last abortion clinics in their states. Following the repeal, several states across the US enacted trigger laws. These laws were passed by State Congresses with the intention of being law when or if certain legislation was overturned. The state of Oklahoma was the first followed by South Dakota. Both states passed heartbeat laws banning abortion once the baby’s heartbeat is detected. The Governor of Mississippi also celebrated the closing of that state’s last clinic. Governor Tate Reeves tweeted, "Today we wake up in a state where the church doors are open, and the abortion clinic's doors are closed. All the Glory to God the Father! Amen!" Governor Kristi Noem tweeted, "Abortions have stopped in South Dakota. We have prayed for this day, and now it is here,". Noem also encouraged those pregnant to consider adoption and to reach out for support, saying to followers, that they were not alone. Several other states have passed trigger laws following the repeal of rulings concerning abortion by the US Supreme Court. Louisiana’s law was recently blocked after a lawsuit was filed in that case. We will update you as these cases as they continue.

Attacks/ harassment continues against pro-life groups & US Supreme Court justices
The repeal by the US Supreme Court has caused a rise in attacks against pro-life organizations, religious organizations and even the US Supreme Court justices currently on the court. Two Professors at the University of Georgia are being criticized for releasing a so-called hit list of pregnancy centers across the US. Two Congressmen from Georgia have sent a letter to the University demanding school officials denounce, and do not show support for these two professors. The list of pregnancy centers spans nationwide. The list includes addresses and phone numbers of the facilities, encouraging activist to harass workers and protest at these locations. Protestors have continued to harass Supreme Court justices, despite this being against the law to intimidate a federal judge. Recently Justice Brent Kavanaugh was forced to escape through the back door of a restaurant after it was leaked the justice was having dinner at that venue. Activists are encouraging pro-abortion supporters to continue harassing the justices following the ruling on abortion. One group is even offering a bounty to those who put on social media sightings of conservative justices.  Three churches in Washington were vandalized and set on fire following an executive order by the Biden Administration. The executive order will protect women who travel across state lines for an abortion and gives access to medication the causes an abortion. The Biden Administration has condemned violence but continues to encourage activists to keep protesting the Supreme court’s decision.

Church of England refuses to give definition of a woman Church of England has made waves after refusing to clearly define their beliefs on a  recent question. According to reports the leaders of the church were asked by a member of their council what the definition of a woman is according to the church’s beliefs. Leaders on the board refused to answer the question. Critics of the story called the act “shocking”, adding that the Church of England should simply follow the Word of God and not society’s opinion.  The move is expected to further add confusion on where the Church of England stands when it comes to the LGBT community. The announcement is part of an ongoing pattern by the Church of England to sidestep politically charged issues, but still condone them at the same time. This year a bishop with the church signed a letter asking the British government to ban conversion therapy. In the letter the leaders called being transgender “a sacred journey.” The church had previously allowed pastors in the Church of England to perform marriages where one person is transgender, as long as the person is legally recognized by the British government. The Church of England is referred to as the mother church of the Anglican church which has a total membership of over 85 million worldwide.
