đź“– "Then Elisha said, Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord: Tomorrow about this time a measure of fine flour will sell for a shekel and two measures of barley for a shekel in the gate of Samaria! Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said, If the Lord should make windows in heaven, could this thing be? But Elisha said, You shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat of it. -2 Kings 7:1-2 AMPC

Samaria was experiencing a famine. Their city was surrounded by an army, and the army would not allow anything in or anything out. The situation looked impossible, but Elisha still gave the king good news. He told him the famine would be over in twenty-four hours. The king’s right-hand man did not believe it, and his unbelief cost him his life. It is important how we respond to the Word of God. Proverbs 13:13 tells us that the person who despises the Word will be destroyed. When we hear from God, we should be like Mary and respond, “Be it unto me according to your word” (Luke 1:38). We must receive God’s Word and believe it regardless of the circumstances. God gave us His Word to change circumstances. His Word is just as powerful as He is, and He is not a man that He should lie. When you read the end of the story, God did exactly what He said He would do; the famine ended twenty-four hours later. In like manner, when we believe God’s Word, He will do the same. He is watching over His Word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:12 Amp.).
