DAILY DEVOTIONAL | December 18th

Start Your Day

“He brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and peace to the Jews who were near. Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.” -Ephesians 2:17-18 NLT

Because of Christ’s sacrifice for us on the cross over 2,000 years ago, we have been brought near to God and made one with Him (v.13-14); whereas previously, sin separated us from God. Thank God that He brought the Gospel (the Good News) to us whether we were Jew or Greek. He thought about it, and counted each and every one of us worthy of saving and redeeming from the curse of the Law BEFORE we were even formed in our mother’s womb. Selah. What great love God has for us! Never doubt your worth or value to your Creator. He has shown us time and time again through His Word and through His actions that we are loved, cherished and the apple of His eye (Zechariah 2:8, Psalm 17:8)! You have access to your Father today through the Holy Spirit. Don’t take it for granted; stir up the gift and stay sensitive to your Father’s direction today. Have a blessed day.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Sometimes fear may seem like it’s greater than us but that’s when we have to remember that GREATER is He that is in us than He that is in the world (1 John 4:4); and that GREATER One has blessed us with the gift of power, love and a healthy, clear mind. Keep your mind stayed on Him today as you reflect and take advantage of those blessings today. Allow His mindset to be yours, and don’t accept anything that wasn’t given to you by your Father (i.e. fear). Be confident in who you are IN Christ. Have a blessed day.

📖 “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” -Psalms 19:14 NLT

God is the firm and steady Rock that we can depend on. Regardless of what cares or concerns we may feel we have pressing us, we can lean on Him. Lord, our Redeemer, may we honor you with our words and thoughts today. Give us a new heart if that is what is needed to do so (Psalm 51:10). Thank you Lord for your love, faithfulness and compassion to us daily. 🙌🏼

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].” -John 10:10 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Notice that it is the devil’s desire to destroy and ‘take away’, but in contrast, it’s always been in our Father God’s character to ‘give’. Where the enemy has attempted to steal our health and life, it’s God’s desire to give us life anew. Where the enemy has attempted to take away our happiness, it’s God’s heart to give us eternal joy regardless of life’s circumstances. Where the enemy has tried to destroy our lives with confusion and frustration, God desires His children to have peace of mind beyond what is even fathomable by the world. God is the same yesterday and forever (Hebrews 13:8). So be comforted by the fact this morning that it is still His desire not only for you to enjoy life, but to enjoy it abundantly as His child and ambassador here on earth. Be blessed and encouraged!

"There is no fear in love [dread does not exist]. But perfect (complete, full-grown) love drives out fear, because fear involves [the expectation of divine] punishment, so the one who is afraid [of God’s judgment] is not perfected in love [has not grown into a sufficient understanding of God’s love]. We love, because He first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates (works against) his [Christian] brother he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen." -1 John 4:18-20 AMP

God is love and true love literally drives out fear. We should have a desire to represent Christ and do the same as His ambassadors here on earth. Only God can truly transform and perfect us in His perfect love because He IS love. Once this is done we are better qualified as His ambassadors.

May God help us not to be hypocritical in our expressions of love to you by truly loving our brothers and sisters that we see here on earth every day. Thank you Lord for your love God! Give us a clean heart (Psalm 51:10) and perfect those areas that concern us (Psalm 138:8).

Have a wonderful Friday!

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].” -2 Corinthians 5:17AMP

As believers in Christ, we have received a new identity, but have you truly embraced that identity? We belong to God, and our citizenship is in Heaven (Philippians 3:20). Our conversation, values and ways of doing things may appear to be foreign to this world the more we become like Christ and the fruits of the Spirit manifest themselves in our lives. Rejoice today that your identity is in Christ: you are redeemed from the curse of the law (Gal.3:13)! You are the righteousness of God (2 Cor. 5:21), you are THE healed (1 Peter 2:24), accepted (Ephesians 1:6), you have the mind of Christ (Philippians 2:5-8) and so much more! Meditate on who and Whose you are and your confidence on the authority that you have IN Christ will grow.

"For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God]." -1 John 5:4 AMP

Christianity is often compared to battle or combat. Perhaps that’s because spiritual warfare has so many similarities to physical warfare. Furthermore, Jesus alluded to this by referencing our “overcoming” the world (John 16:33). If you have been born again, then through your faith in God and Jesus's victory on the cross, you’ve overcome this world! Just be sure to take a minute to reflect in the mirror of the Word to ensure that you are dressed for battle this morning with your spiritual armor: breastplate of righteousness, belt of truth, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, etc. (Ephesians 6:10-18). And as it says in Ephesians 6:18, pray in tongues throughout the day and be alert - we’re at war! But there’s no need to fear or be anxious: God is with you and you have already overcome every challenge that may come your way - known or unknown. We have the victory!

"Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires." - James 1:19-20NLT

Slow to speak...quick to hear. It's so much easier said than done sometimes right? Well God wants to lead your life, and one of the ways we allow Him to do just that is to entrust our mind and emotions do Him as well by letting Him take the lead. Our emotions or even pride sometimes can influence us to speak when we should be listening and to miss out on key information because we think we've got the situation all figured out in our minds. Practice praying in tongues today and making a conscious effort to follow this command. It will curate the opportunity for God to speak wisdom to your spirit in different areas before you open your mouth. It may also save you embarrassment, time and resources. God thank you for loving us and thank you for putting a watch over our mouths today (Psalm 141:3) in Jesus name. Amen. Have a blessed day today! #dailydevotional #wisdom #slowtospeak #quicktohear

When we follow the commands of Christ, we better position ourselves to be under His covering. We have God’s promise for protection, and that He’ll answer us and be with us and deliver us in the midst of circumstance if we ‘love’ Him; and how do we express our love to God? We do it by following His commands (John 14:23). God loves us unconditionally and desires only the best for us, but let’s do introspection on our lives and ask God to show us whether we have been obedient with the last set of instructions He has given us and make any adjustments that are needed as a result. It’s incredible that we serve such a faithful God and that we can find comfort in His protection (spiritually, physically, emotionally, etc.) and all the other benefits of our relationship with Him. Selah.

📖“The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.” -Psalm 29:11 NLT

🤔 Need strength this morning? Woke up feeling anxious or worried? Well, there’s no need to stay that way. Cast all your cares on God: He is more than capable of handling them! God freely gives His children joy and in that joy they find the strength to face any situation. On top of that, peace is another one of the benefits of being in the family of God (Isaiah 26:3, John 14:27), so be encouraged and take advantage of what He willingly has made available to you. Walk in His peace today and trust that He will give you strength every step of the way. He is all you need. Have a blessed Saturday!

Jesus is unchanging. He has all power today, just like He did over 2,000 years ago. He loves you unconditionally today just as much as He did when He thought of you over 2,000 years ago. He is unmoved, unbothered and unstressed by the circumstances of your life today no more than He was last week or the last time that He brought you out. His promises are still “yes and amen” (2 Corinthians 1:20) and if He said it, that settles it (Numbers 23:19). Pray in the Holy Spirit throughout the day and seek God’s direction for your life and for specific instructions from Him for the day. Once you receive them, trust Him and obey. God’s got you, and He will never let you down!

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words." -Proverbs 18:21 AMP

Never forget that your words have POWER! Make a conscious effort today to speak life and not death over yourself, your family, friends and loved ones. Let your first words today be ones of thanksgiving to God for the gift of life this morning (1 Chronicles 16:34); but make sure that before you think about the current circumstances of your life - good or bad, you examine what you say, if you should say anything at all. Ask God to guard the door of your mouth (Psalm 141:3). You are a child of the Most High God and redeemed from the curse of the law. speak to your situation and confess positive things over your life. Think on good things (Philippians 4:8), then speak life to your circumstance. Remember: your words frame your world! Have a blessed day.

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” -Ephesians 4:32 NIV

Though it’s not always easy, the Word of God encourages us to show kindness to one another whether in or out of the body of Christ. His love for us was/is so pure and true, that He gave us His all when He sacrificed His Son Jesus. despite the lack of His lack of sin nature, His holiness and our lack of worthiness for salvation, He deemed us worth saving and forgiving us of our sin. With all the love He has shown us, the unmerited favor extended to us, we’re honestly not qualified to decide who is worthy of our forgiveness. If we are truly our disciples and truly love Him, then we will simply obey His commands (John 14:15). Make a conscious effort today to show kindness and compassion to someone today. Not only does “love” truly reflect the heart of Christ and represent Him, but there is freedom in forgiveness and whom the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36)!

So that we are no longer children [spiritually immature], tossed back and forth [like ships on a stormy sea] and carried about by every wind of [shifting] doctrine, by the cunning and trickery of [unscrupulous] men, by the deceitful scheming of people ready to do anything [for personal profit]. But speaking the truth in love [in all things—both our speech and our lives expressing His truth], let us grow up in all things into Him [following His example] who is the Head—Christ. -Ephesians 4:14-15 AMP

God loves us so much that He desires for us to grow and mature in our understanding and application of His Word and precepts. We don’t have to be manipulated by the enemy or by any inaccurate doctrine of the Bible that we may find ourselves presented with. God gives us discernment and with the direction also of the Holy Spirit, our feet can remain firmly planted on Him - the Rock (Psalm 62:2). In fact our daily conversations and lifestyle should reflect this maturation as we make strides daily to mimic Christ. His loving correction is given "in love". He will guide us every step of the way. Trust His leading and the authenticity of His love and desire our growth in our daily walk as believers together. #dailydevotional #growth #spiritualgrowth #maturity #discernment #therock
