Psalm 23:6 NKJV
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
The psalmist said that mercy would follow him all his days. This meant that God had his back. What was the qualifier? Verse 1 gives it to us. "The Lord is my Shepherd." When we allow the Lord to guide us, and we follow Him like sheep follow their shepherd, we will enjoy the benefits described in this psalm. They include having goodness and mercy follow us everywhere we go.
