Job 42:10 NKJV
And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
Sometimes restoration is held up because of things we need to do to prepare the way. In this account in the book of Job, we see that God restored Job’s losses when we prayed for his friends. Job’s friends had annoyed him for many days, tormenting him with accusations and wrong judgment concerning his sufferings. It is not unreasonable to think that Job got angry at them and could have held some unforgiveness toward them for their being so inconsiderate while he suffered. In Job 42:8, God said to Job’s friends, “…My servant Job shall pray for you….” God gave Job a chance to cleanse his heart when he instructed him to pray for his friends. David said in Psalm 139:23-24, “Search me, O God, and know my heart.
Try me, and know my anxieties. And see if there is any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.” From time to time, we need to ask God to reveal anything that maybe hindering our blessings. We want restoration of all that has been taken from us but we need to make sure we are not hindering that in any way.
