Hallowed be your Name.
The name of the Lord is holy. It is to be held in high esteem. It is precious. When we understand the holiness of God’s name we are very respectful in how we conduct ourselves since we represent Him. Jesus wanted His disciples to have an attitude of respect when they prayed. Respect for the name of the Lord also affects our faith. We are aware that we are not talking to an idol. We are talking to the living God who hears and answers prayer. He has exalted His Word above His name which means His name is associated with the integrity of His Word. His name is good because His Word is good. He can be trusted, relied on. Our behavior and our faith should be affected each time we pray if we are conscious of the holiness of God’s name.
