Church says they are being persecuted by city officials for feeding the hungry
A Church in Arizona is suing for the right to help those in need. According to reports Gethsemani Baptist Church is suing the city of San Luis for the right to feed those in need in the city. The ordeal started after a delivery truck damaged property near the church during a delivery. The church paid for the damage, but the incident caused issues between the church and city officials. Shortly after the accident the city began to issue fines to the church. The city claims the church has multiple violations connected to their outreach efforts. The pastor of the church says the situation changed after the city elected a new mayor and they are being unfairly targeted. The church is being represented by First Liberty. Attorneys for the church say there has been no change to the activities and community outreach by the church to warrant these fines, they are simply trying to help people.


 N.H. House of Reps passes trans athlete ban
The New Hampshire State House of Representatives has passed a bill to protect girls in competitive sport. The state house passed a bill recently banning trans student from girls sports public and private school competitions. The bill drew criticism from opponents in the LGBT community who called it discrimination. Supporters of the bill say that biological boys participating in girls’ competition is an unfair, biological advantage. It also adds the danger of girls being injured in competition against biological males. The bill narrowly passed the New Hampshire state house; opponents are now putting pressure on the state senate to defeat the bill.


Museum agrees to settlement for religious discrimination
A national museum is being ordered to pay for removing students from their building.  The National Air and Space Museum, a division of the Smithsonian has been ordered to pay a group of students who were kicked out of the facility in 2023. The students who were on a trip from South Carolina were visiting the museum when they were asked to leave because of their attire. The students and staff were wearing Rosary Pro-Life beanies during their tour. Attorneys for the groups say they were harassed by museum staff and told them they could not make political statements. The group later sued claiming their First Amendment and religious rights were violated. The museum agreed to settle the case for 50- thousand dollars. The settlement will also include a private tour of the museum and a video apology from museum officials.

   

  SNBC Health report: how olive oil can improve brain health
According to recent research olive oil can affect brain health in positive ways as we age. The new research was recently announced at the annual meeting for the American Society of Nutrition. The study finds olive oil is not only beneficial to heart health, but it also benefits the brain. The study followed 90 thousand Americans for over 30 years. The study found subjects who consumed a tablespoon or more of olive oil had a lower risk of issues with cognitive health, mainly dementia. Olive oil also contains antioxidant compounds. It is a healthy fat, which has been proven to benefit the body in several ways. Olive oil helps reduce inflammation, lowers diabetes risk, and fights against issues with arthritis.
