Street Preacher arrest case to be appealed to US Supreme Court
A street preacher’s arrest in Mississippi is making national news. Supporters of Gabriel Oliver are questioning if the arrest is a violation of his First Amendment rights. Oliver was arrested for violating a noise ordinance. The ban restricted the preacher from preaching on public property. Lower courts in Mississippi blocked Oliver from appealing the charges; the case is now being appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court. City Officials claim they received complaints after Oliver was seen speaking loudly and shouting insults at passersby according to the complaint. The officials later claimed he violated a local ordinance by being outside of a designated protest zone. Attorneys for Oliver says the city misapplied their own rules which are vague and a violation of religious freedom.

Israel conflict with terrorist groups continue/Israel makes preemptive strikes
Israel continues its targeted attacks against terrorist groups and their leaders. Israel recently launched targeted airstrikes in Lebanon. The strikes killed the Chief of Staff for the terrorist group Hezbollah. The Israeli Defense Forces also continued strikes against Hamas. The strikes in Lebanon’s capital of Beirut has caused growing tension between Israel and Lebanon’s government. Israel’s Prime Minister issued a statement saying that he will continue to make decisions to defend Israel and keep his nation safe in the future. He added that Israel is responsible for its own security. Though the peace deal still stands between Hamas and Israel, the Israeli government has continued to be vocal about their right to defend their nation from all attacks. The U.S. is continuing to work with both sides but have reported Hamas leaders are warning they may end the ceasefire. Israel says Hamas has violated the ceasefire since both sides signed the agreement in October of this year.
