NC Congresswoman arrested at Pro-Abortion protests
Protests have continued to escalate following the repeal of Roe v. Wade by the US Supreme Court. Several Congressman have been arrested for being involved in pro-abortion protests. North Carolina representative Alma Adams was arrested along with 17 other members of Congress during a protest recently along with abortion rights advocates. North Carolina Representative Dan Bishop criticized Adams for the arrest commenting that she should not be a part of protest especially during a time when Supreme Court justices have been threatened. Adams was released hours later and was able to vote on a measure in Congress the same day. Representative Alma Adams defended the arrest claiming she protested because there are women and girls in her and her colleague’s (Bishop’s) district that care about abortion rights. Alma Adams was also arrested previously during a protest concerning raising the minimum wage in the 90s. This protest is the same event that several Congressmen claimed to be arrested but were never handcuffed as part of an alleged publicity stunt. There is no word if Adams will be charged with a crime for participating in the protest.
NYC Mayor fires over 1-thousand employees over COVID shot
Over 1-thousand New York City employees have lost their jobs for refusing to take the COVID shot. Mayor Eric Adams was criticized for the dismissal of 17-hundred employees. Critics says the firings show favoritism to the wealthy because of exemptions in New York City that were given to professional athletes and performers. The terminations include members of the city’s police force, fire department and members of the education department. Six thousand workers are still waiting to receive medical or religious exemptions according to a report by the New York Post. Several groups including military and medical workers around the US have filed lawsuits due to being fired over refusing the COVID shot. A group of five hundred medical workers in Illinois recently won a 10-million-dollar lawsuit for wrongful termination and force coercion related to the COVID shot mandate issued by their employer.
