Water Part 32

Isaiah 41:17-18 NKJV

"The poor and needy seek water, but there is none. Their tongues fail for thirst. I, the LORD, will hear them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. I will open rivers in desolate heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys. I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

God talked about caring for the poor and needy and providing water for them miraculously. If we encounter other people who are in need of the Word and the Spirit and the land around them feels very dry, let us realize that the circumstances do not impress God. He knows how to provide in the midst of seemingly impossible situations. So if we are chosen as vessels to minister to people under such conditions, we must do so with confidence. As we do our part, we can know that the Lord will do His part. If we find ourselves in desperate need of the Word and the Spirit, the Lord will meet our needs if we seek Him.

Water Part 31

Isaiah 32:20 NKJV

Blessed are you who sow beside all waters, Who send out freely the feet of the ox and the donkey.

When one sows beside waters, it guarantees a harvest. The ground will be well-watered and will not be dependent on rain. Drought will not be an issue.

Spiritual parallel: Spiritually speaking we sow by the waters when we keep close to the Word and the Spirit. We stay close to the Word by meditating on it and speaking it. We stay close to the Spirit by communing with Him and speaking from our spirits. We will definitely reap a harvest from the seed we sow when we sow by the waters of the Word and the Spirit.

Water Part 30

Isaiah 21:14 NKJV

O inhabitants of the land of Tema, Bring water to him who is thirsty; With their bread they met him who fled.

 As Isaiah prophesied to Arabia, his words included "Bring water to him who is thirsty." There is a difference between bringing water to someone just to offer him something to drink and bringing water to someone who is thirsty. The one who is not thirsty may take a little sip here and there, but a thirsty person will put the vessel to his lips and not put it down until he is finished or needs to pause to breathe.

 Spiritual parallel:  We need to look at our spiritual drinking habits to determine when we need to pray about our thirst level. We long for the Word and the Spirit when we are thirsty. We are not satisfied with just a sip. We look for a way to put spiritual water to our lips and not pause until we need to catch our breath or we cannot take anymore. In addition to praying about it, we can also drink more on purpose. Just as drinking more will increase our desire for water in the natural, drinking more spiritually will increase our desire for spiritual water.

Water Part 29

I have not posted in a little while, but I am back and I hope I can still be a blessing to those who read my blogs.

Isaiah 12:3 NKJV

Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

According to John 4:14 KJV, when Jesus was conversing with the Samaritan woman, he said, "But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."

Salvation was compared to a well. Isaiah said "...you will draw water from the wells of salvation." A well is a reservoir. You can come back over and over to get water from it as needed. We need to understand what we have and take advantage of it. Imagine someone sitting around thirsty, or needing to be washed, while a well is available to meet the need. If we saw someone in that state, we would wonder why they didn't do something about it, or we would remind them of what they need to do. Let us remember that we have that well Jesus referred to. It is the well of the Spirit. If we have been feeding on the Word, there should also be the water of the Word in the well. So when there is a spiritual need in our lives, we need not go any further than the well within us. As we tap into this valuable resource, we will receive enlightenment about anything else we need to do, and our needs will be met. Just as there is a procedure for drawing water out of a natural well, there is a procedure for drawing spiritual water from our spiritual well. The spiritual bucket is meditation, confession and prayer.  As we meditate the Word after praying, we can then speak in line with the Word and declare our need met. We must pray with the spirit and with the understanding. We can speak or sing. We can also go to the Throne spiritually, as an act of our will and wait quietly in the presence of the Lord. That is a privilege that belongs to us as a result of our salvation.

Hebrews 4:16 NKJV says, "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."

Let us do this with joy. Why with joy? We have something the world does not have. We have something that is sure. The well is always there and we can always draw from it. We also do it with joy because it always works, and we appreciate our Father for providing for all our needs faithfully.

Water Part 28

Psalm 107:35 NKJV

He turns a wilderness into pools of water, And dry land into water springs.

When we think about wilderness and dry land, we see an absence of water or any moisture. In order for these areas to become sources of water, the water has to come from somewhere else. The psalmist said that God worked miracles and caused the wilderness to become pools of water, and water to spring up from dry ground. Just as He did that physically, He can and will do it spiritually. If we find ourselves in a dry place where it seems totally void of water spiritually, we must turn our attention to the Lord and allow Him to remedy the situation. The water of the Word and the Holy Spirit do not transform our dry ground by our carnal efforts. The word without the Spirit can kill us. The Spirit will not function outside of the Word. Only God can mix the two to create pools of water in our wilderness and water springs in our dry land. The pools represent our being refreshed and the water springs represent our being able to refresh others. In order for God to cure our dryness, we must come to Him in desperation, recognizing that our own efforts to remedy our dryness are futile. We just chase after Him and hold on to Him in expectancy until the waters begin to flow.

Water Part 27

Psalm 65:9-10 NKJV

You visit the earth and water it,
You greatly enrich it;
The river of God is full of water;
You provide their grain,
For so You have prepared it.
You water its ridges abundantly,
You settle its furrows;
You make it soft with showers,
You bless its growth.

The psalmist praised God for His goodness and great faithfulness. He talks about how the Lord waters the earth to make it fruitful and productive.

Spiritual parallel: God is faithful to provide the water of the Word and the Holy Spirit for us as believers. When we receive these blessings, we become fruitful and productive spiritually. We must be like the earth and take in all God gives us so we can be all He wants us to be.
