DAILY DEVOTIONAL | August 11th

What a compliment! God said that he found a man that was after His heart and wanted to carry our His will and His plan fully. A lot of Christians want to carry out their own plan and want God to put His blessing on it. God already has a plan that is blessed if we will just simply carry it out. Many times, believers do not seek the Lord or His plan. They simply make decisions based on external factors. We must make a decision not to be carnal. We seek the Lord about the major decisions of our lives.

Because we are after the heart of God, we want His plan for our lives. Our desire should be what He desires. His program should be more important than our program. Total fulfillment takes place when we are carrying out the will and the program of God. Until that takes place, there will always be a void and an emptiness in our lives. Our lives will go to the next level when we are willing to say what Jesus said, “Not my will, but your will be done.”

Samuel was a miracle child. His mother had been unable to bear children, and she had promised the Lord that if He gave her a child, she would give the child back to the Lord. God honored Hannah’s request, and she had a son. When the child was old enough, she took him to the temple, and the child served in the temple. As parents, we must understand the importance of putting our children in a position where they can cultivate a relationship with God at an early age. Hannah made a robe for her son and put him in a place where He would serve God all the days of his life. Parents have a responsibility to give God another generation. We must raise our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. If we do not do it, who will?

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | August 9th

God has said so many good things about us in the Word of God. Despite God’s thoughts toward us, many do not see themselves the way God sees them. God sees us as blessed. He sees us as more than conquerors. He sees us as the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath. Unfortunately, many disagree with God. They are like Gideon; they make excuses. They bring up their upbringing. They may bring up the color of their skin, their gender, or other excuses. Moses was the same way. God had told Moses that He had chosen him to deliver the Israelites out of slavery; and Moses gave excuses of why he could not do what God had already said he could do. We must always agree with God. Our agreeing with God causes us to walk in what He says belongs to us. Let’s practice agreeing with God. It doesn’t matter what we think about it. It is when our thoughts line up with His thoughts that our lives line up with what He has said.

One cannot run from what is inside of him. God never removes His call or His giftings. His call and giftings are for the assignment. God did not change His mind about Jonah and his preaching to Nineveh. God did not change His mind about Moses, even in his old age. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone misses the mark, but the callings never change. God may have to alter the route, like He did Moses. There may be delays, but the gifting and the callings will always be there. Never give up on what is on the inside of you. God knows how to make the latter part of your life a beautiful part of your life. God knows how to make the latter end greater than the former.

Our words are powerful. When we find ourselves in a tough situation, we want to tell everyone. We want to give everyone the details. How we were wronged. What was said. How messed up everything was. But we must learn the importance of silence. Silence can be just as important as speaking sometimes. Jairus knew the importance of silence. When he found out his daughter had died, Jesus turned to him and told him not to fear. Jairus never said a word. He had already told Jesus that if He would lay His hands on his daughter, she would be healed. That was the last thing he said. Jairus did not say anything when he heard the bad news. He did not say anything when they got to the house. Jairus stayed silent until Jesus raised his daughter from the dead. Once we speak faith, we must keep our mouths shut, when we are tempted to speak doubt and unbelief. Unbelief and doubt will cost us our victory if we speak it. Let's be people of few words. Let's speak God’s Word and let His Word do the rest. His Word can handle any situation when we let it.

Is it possible that God is asking that same question when it comes to His children. He may be wondering, “When are you going to possess all that belongs to you”? When are you going to possess your healing? When are you going to possess prosperity? When are you going to possess what belongs to you? We cannot be slack when it comes to the promises of God. Jesus shed His blood so that we can walk in redemption, and it is only right that we possess all that He shed His blood for. We must be aggressive. We must meditate on the Word. We must confess the Word. We must be consistent. When we are aggressive about the things of God, we will see a performance. We must not get weary in well doing, for in due season we will reap if we don’t faint.

It is in our best interest not to be wise in our own eyes. Our wisdom can get us into trouble and do more harm than good. When we turn from our own wisdom or earthly wisdom and lean on God and His Word, good things happen. When we trust in the Lord and keep our lives free from a sinful lifestyle, that will produce less stress in our lives. That should cause us to be stress-free. When our dependence is on God, it will cause us to live a worry-free life. When we are endeavoring to please God in our lifestyle, we do not have to worry about the consequences of sin because we are not living that type of lifestyle. The less stress we have in our lives, the healthier we can become because we are not dealing with the results of a stress-filled life. A godly lifestyle will always lead to a healthier lifestyle.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | August 4th

God has a plan for all our lives. Whether He has called us to the medical field, the field of law, the business world--whatever world He has called us to, He has also equipped us for. Paul and Peter were both called to the ministry, yet both had different callings. Peter was called to the Jewish people, and Paul was called to the Gentiles. Paul recognized that even though they had two separate callings, God had both called and motivated both of them to accomplish what they were called to do. We are all called to something, and whatever we are called to is never insignificant. If God both called and equipped you for a purpose, that is significant. Let us endeavor to tap into the plan of God for our lives. As we discover the various aspects of that calling, we must also understand that we are equipped to fulfill whatever it is that we are to walk in.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | August 3rd

Periodically, every believer should take the time to evaluate ourselves. It is good to reflect on where we are and where we should be. We should look at our spiritual lives as well. Asking questions like, “Where am I in my faith walk”? Am I on the same level I was three years ago? Am I becoming more patient? More loving? Sometimes to grow, we must evaluate our progress and see if we are maturing spiritually or whether we are stagnant? God wants us to go from glory to glory. For that to take place, we must be co-laborers with Him. When He speaks to us about an area of our lives, we must be willing to take the necessary steps to improve in that area. We must continue to grow in grace and in the knowledge of the things of God. We strive to become stronger in the things of God. We must grow in faith for finances, healing, and every other area that belongs to us as believers. We examine ourselves so that we can be all that God wants us to be and have all that God wants us to have.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | August 2nd

There is a spiritual side to things, and there is a practical side. Many times, we can focus on one side more than the other. This verse focuses on the practical side. To get to where God wants us to be it takes knowledge (learning), skill, and wise counsel. Jesus Himself when He was twelve years old was in the temple listening to teachers and asking them questions. When His parents asked him why He was there, He replied that He “must be about His Father’s business” (Luke 2:46-49).

Being about His Father’s business was the spiritual side, but He had to go about it from a practical side. He had to learn what the teachers of the law knew because He knew that was an important part of walking in what God had for Him to walk in. If Jesus had to increase in learning and skill and even counsel from His teachers, we must be willing to do the same. We must acquire knowledge, skill, and even allow ourselves to be mentored and learn from our teachers. The student is not greater than his master. If Jesus was willing to do it, we must be willing to do the same.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | August 1st

Peter was experiencing a miracle. He had acted on the words of Jesus. Jesus was standing on the water and just told him to, “Come”. He had received an invitation to experience the same miracle that Jesus was experiencing. Initially, he was walking on the water, but then he lost his focus. He took his eyes off Jesus and placed his eyes on the storm. He started to sink when he lost his focus. The same thing could happen to any believer. We always have a choice to focus on either the Word or the storms of our lives. When we keep our eyes on the Word, the Word will calm the storm. The Word will change our circumstances. If we keep our eyes on the storm, the storm will stay the same. Let’s keep our eyes on the answer, not the problem. The Word is always our answer, it always will be, yesterday, today, and forever.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | July 31st

It is the desire of most believers to live a blessed life. We see in this text a secret to living a blessed life. We must love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and we must love our neighbor as ourselves. The Bible tells us that God is love (I John 4:8). We must love humanity with the same love that God gives toward us. We are capable of walking in that type of love because the Bible tells us that the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost (Romans 5:5). As we love our neighbor, it will cause compassion to rise within us and to become a giver, the way our heavenly Father is. As we confer blessings upon others, we in turn put the law of giving and receiving in place; and we place ourselves in a position to receive from God. Staying in the love walk is the best way to live. It keeps you in the faith walk, and it causes people to identify you as a Christian, a Christ like one.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | July 30th

God desires for His people to always experience His peace. For that to take place, we must receive His Word as final authority in our lives. Isaiah 26:3 tells us that He will keep us in perfect peace if we keep our minds stayed on Him. We keep our minds stayed on Him by keeping our minds on what He has said in His Word. Whatever God says about us should be what we expect, regardless of what it looks like. We are who He says we are, and we can do what He says we can do.

God tells us that He is our Healer, so we can be at peace about our health. God tells us that He will meet all our needs according to His riches in glory, so we can be at peace concerning our financial needs. We can enter God’s rest because we trust Him. Unbelief is what will disconnect us from His peace. The Israelites refused to believe God’s Word, and it cost them. It shut them out of the promised land and caused them to die in the wilderness. If we do not receive His promises, we will not be able to enter our promised land. God’s Word is the key to our entering in all that He has for us.

When we speak the Word of God, heaven will back us. When Joshua was fighting against the Gibeonites, Joshua spoke to the sun and the moon, and they obeyed. The Word of God tells us that God heeded the word of a man (Joshua 10:12-14). Heaven will back us when our words line up with the Word of God. Heaven will not back up words of sickness and disease, poverty, lack, insufficiency, defeat, etc. The angels of God hearken to the voice of God (or the Word of God) and God’s Word does not promote defeat. God’s Word causes us to triumph. Speak what you desire, not what you have. Speak the Word of God.

God wants to be everything we need. God watched over Israel. He protected Israel. He led them through the wilderness. He did it all by Himself. God did not need any help to take care of Israel or to cause them to inherit the promised land. He caused them to ride upon the high places of the earth. God did all of this for His people, and He has not changed. What He did for the Israelites, He will do for us. He will navigate us through this life so that we can experience His best. God loves us, and He has nothing but the best in mind for us. We are His covenant people, and we can expect no less than what He did for the Israelites. Keep your expectations high and know that God will never fail us, He is bound to His Word.

God is the One with the plan. He is the One who knows what is up the road. He not only tells us what is about to take place, but when it is good, He knows how to make it happen. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been in a certain place, God can all of a sudden, place you in a position totally different from where you were earlier.

For example, Joseph was a prisoner when he woke up in the morning, but he was the prime minister by the time he went to bed that night. God had revealed to him that he would be in leadership later in life and that his brothers would bow before him. God interpreted Pharoah’s dream through Joseph, and Joseph was promoted the same day. When God reveals His will and plan for our lives, we must receive it and understand that if God is the One revealing it to us, God is the One who will make it a reality. Not only can He make it happen, but He can make it happen suddenly

As human beings, we are limited in what we can do. Doctors cannot cure every disease. We sometimes can get to a place where we can’t figure out how to solve our problems. Sometimes there are things in our lives that take place, and we don’t know what to do. The good thing is that we serve an unlimited God. There is no problem that He cannot solve. There isn’t a situation that His wisdom cannot handle. There isn’t a sickness He cannot heal. There is nothing too hard for God. It doesn’t matter what the doctors are saying. It doesn’t matter how bad it looks; God can do what men can’t. Keep your eyes on God and take them off men.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | July 25th

Jesus came to set us free. We are to live independent of this world’s system. We are to depend on the kingdom of God and not this world’s system. This is one reason why it is so imperative that we renew our minds to the Word of God. By renewing our minds to what God’s Word says, it will give us revelation and insight on how to function within the kingdom of God. The world has a way to prosper, but God does too. The world has healthcare system, and so does God. God wants us to depend on Him and to take the same time with His Word that we took to learn how to function within this world’s system. The Bible tells us that the Blessing of the Lord makes one rich and adds no sorrow to it (Proverbs 10:22). There are no ill side effects to God’s way of healing. There is no added interest when God blesses us financially. God’s way of doing things is always the best way of doing things.

It is God’s desire that He manifests His will in our lives. His will is for us to prosper in every area of our lives (3 John 2). God’s desire is for us to be whole, spirit, soul, and body. He sent Jesus so that we can have life and have it more abundantly. It was never His desire for us to be sick, broke, confused, discouraged or to have any other negative experience in our lives. God gave us access to the kingdom of God so that we can experience the “Garden of Eden”. That simply means life without the effects of the curse. The conditions were perfect in the Garden before the fall of man, and when we stand for the promises of God, we are restored back to that place. We can experience that reality if we can believe God for it. Be it unto you according to your faith.

Paul had just been told that bonds and afflictions were awaiting him in every city that he was going to minister in. That would have scared off the average Christian. No one likes to be mistreated. No one enjoys persecution, yet Paul was told that this is what he would face this in every place that he would preach. What focus. What dedication. For a man to be so committed to the will of God, that he was willing to go through anything. Too many Christians want to live on easy street, yet Jesus told us that the servant was not greater than his master. If they mistreated Jesus, then they will mistreat His followers. Jesus was committed to the will of God. Even when He understood the cost, He stayed committed. God would not ask us to do something that He was not willing to do. Let’s not let God down. Let’s stay committed to God, no matter what, it is all worth it in the end.
