DAILY DEVOTIONAL | July 22nd

We all have a path that God has for us. God has a design for all our lives. It is almost like a movie script. When the actor sticks to the script and says his lines the way it was written, the play or movie turns out good. It is when the actor or actors get off script, that the movie or play does not always turn out the way it should have. That is the case with us. We are simply walking out what God has preordained, or scripted. When we stick to the script, we can trust that the movie of our lives will turn out great. The Holy Spirit is a great writer and producer. He knows how to direct us. It is best for us not to walk off alone and do our own thing. God is the ultimate producer and when we stay with the script of our lives, we simply experience a beautiful production from a writer who has never authored a bad story. His story is always good, just like his thoughts toward us.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | July 21st

It doesn’t matter what calamities may occur here on the earth, there is nothing that can keep us from the love of God. God’s love for us will cause Him to manifest His promises in our lives. He not only loves us, but He has a covenant with us that He will not break. If God has to perform miracles in order to meet our needs, He will do so. God is obligated to His promises. He has also promised us peace. It doesn’t matter what storms may be taking place in our lives, we can have peace in the midst of the storm. Jesus walked in that peace when a storm arose while He and His disciples were on the way to their destination. The Bible tells us that Jesus was sleeping while the storm was raging. Jesus had confidence in His Father’s love and His Father’s promises. Jesus knew that He could not perish because He told the disciples to go to the other side. If Jesus could have peace, then we can experience that same peace. God is no respecter of persons; He is simply a respecter of faith. When He sees us standing on His Word, He has no choice but to confirm His Word in our lives. It is impossible for God to lie. He is alert and active and watching over His Word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:12).

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | July 20th

This is a psalm of David as he was fleeing from his son Absalom. Absalom was attempting to steal the throne from David, and David and his men had to flee for their lives. Even though things looked bleak for David, his trust was still in his God. The same God that had delivered him from the lion, the bear, Goliath, Saul, and countless battles, would deliver him again. Based on his covenant and his experience with God, he knew that God would sustain him and keep him during this time. David knew that his help came from the Lord. We must come to the same conclusion. Regardless of the circumstances, God is with us, and God is coming through for us. If thousands come against us, they will be unsuccessful, because we understand that if God is for us, no one can successfully be our enemy. It doesn’t matter what the enemy may do, no weapon that is formed against us can prosper!

Jesus knew the importance of fellowshipping with the Father. The text tells us that Jesus would pray as often as possible. It didn’t matter if He had to get up early or if He had to stay up late after a long day of ministry, Jesus would spend time with God. He understood the necessity and the value of prayer. There were times when Jesus prayed all night long. Before Jesus went to the cross, He was in the Garden of Gethsemane, praying to the Father, drawing the strength that it would take to carry out what He was sent to do, sacrifice His life for humanity. Jesus is our example. If He, being the Son of God, spent much time in prayer while here on earth, how much more should we? God is the vine, and we are the branches. We get our life, our strength, our everything from Him. He is our sufficiency. If Jesus was able to fulfill His purpose through seeking the Father, we should do the same.

There are many believers who ignore the Word of God. Many don’t mean to do it, but it is so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life. We must make time for the Word. Satan will see to it that we stay busy. He wants us to be on the grind from the time we wake up until the time we go to bed. We must prioritize the Word of God. When we recognize the importance of the Word, we see to it that at some point, we read the Word of God. We have to imitate Job who said, “I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.” It would be hard to ignore the Word of God when you esteem it more than your food. It was said of Smith Wigglesworth that after every meal he would pull out His bible and say, “We have fed our body, now let’s feed our spirits.” Where would we be spiritually if we fed our spirits as much as we fed our bodies? Let us try and see. Honoring God’s Word in our lives will bring honor and it will cause prosperity in every area of our lives.

It is always in our best interest to be generous people. Our Heavenly Father is generous, and we should always endeavor to be like our Heavenly Father. The Bible even tells us that if He did not spare His own Son, will He not with Him freely give us all things (Romans 8:32). A person who is constantly giving will eventually get to the place where they are constantly receiving. When we give, it is given back to us good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, men will give unto our bosom (Luke 6:38). It is always beneficial to be a generous man or woman because God’s Word is always true. If we sow, we will also reap. If we choose to be callous and oblivious to the needs of others, we are setting ourselves up to reap the same. Let us always keep the golden rule in our minds, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.

Wisdom is far more effective than any human weapon. We have access to the wisdom of God. His Wisdom will cause us to get out of any jam or any situation. There is nothing too hard for God and there is nothing too hard for His Wisdom. If a poor man’s wisdom could deliver a city, what could God’s Wisdom do for our lives and our situations. It is not always knowledge that is needed, but how to apply what we already know. Knowledge is great and is an important asset, but the Wisdom of God is so much more valuable. Jesus has been made wisdom unto us (I Corinthians 1: 30) and His wisdom is much greater than Solomon’s, and he was considered to have been the wisest king to have ever lived. God’s Wisdom is available to us, we simply must ask for it (James 1:5-8) and believe that God will give us the answers to whatever problem that we may face. We are not in this world without help, we must simply ask. When we do, we can expect victory every time.

There’s something about the presence of the Lord. The Bible tells us that is His presence is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11). The Bible also tells us that where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17). When God is with us, He causes remarkable things to happen in our lives. This text reminds us that the presence of God brings refreshment. It brings to mind the Scripture in Isaiah that tells us that “those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint “(Isaiah 40:31). Notice at the beginning of the text that it tells us to repent so that our sins may be wiped away. It is our sins that separate us from God. We must resist sin and understand the destruction that it causes. We should value our relationship with God to the point that we would be willing to remove any and everything that would come between us and God. Our success comes through walking with God daily. Let us not take our relationship with God for granted. In His presence is times of refreshing and restoration.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | July 14th

God had a promised land for His people. It was always His desire for His people to enter the promised land. Even after the Israelites had sinned before God, He, in His mercy, was still willing to bring the Israelites into the promised land that He had preordained for them to inherit. God told Moses that He would send His Angel before them to cause them to possess the land that God had for them. Notice that God gave them invisible help in order to possess the land and the enemies that they could see. They would have to receive the supernatural to walk in what God had for them. God made the supernatural available to them so that they could inherit the promise. Today, as we confess the Word and stand on God’s Word, we can know that the angels are moving on our behalf. They are ministering spirits sent to manifest God’s blessing on our behalf. The angels hearken to the voice of the Word of God, and when we confess the Word of God, it is giving them permission to work on our behalf to make the promises of God, a reality in our lives. Let's not neglect our supernatural help. If it caused the Israelites to obtain what was promised, it will do the same for us.

God’s favor is a benefit for the children of the kingdom. It is not a momentary thing. It is not something that is to be enjoyed every now and then. God’s favor is for a lifetime. It is not something that is fleeting or seasonal. God’s favor causes blessings and open doors. It causes people to work with us when they don’t want to. It also causes negative situations to turn around in our lives. The favor of God is what caused Joseph to oversee his master’s property as a slave and to oversee the prison when he was a prisoner himself. The favor of God will cause you to standout and to experience things that most people do not experience. As we walk with God and confess His Word, we can expect for His favor to manifest in our lives in a greater way.

The Word of God is our guidebook. It is our instruction book to help us to navigate through life. The writer (Solomon) of this proverb tells his son to continually bind his words on his heart and tie them around his neck. He is simply reminding his son how important the Word is. He was trying to get him to understand its importance and that he should be constantly looking at it at all times. The Word will lead us, guide us, and it will talk to us as we read it, study it, and meditate on it.

When things happen in our lives, the Spirit of God will quicken a Scripture to us or remind us of something we read a few days prior. When we are facing lack, the Word will speak to us and remind us that God is our Shepherd, and we shall not lack (Psalm 23:1). We are facing sickness; we remind ourselves that God is our Healer, and He takes sickness away from our midst (Exodus 23:25). There is a promise in the Word of God for every situation we encounter, and we constantly remind ourselves of what God says, it will keep us. It will be an anchor for our souls, and it will keep us steady in an unsteady world.

God is a God of timing. He knows how to order our steps. He knows how to synchronize and coordinate things so that we come across the right people at the right time for the right opportunity. The woman in this story was going to the king to have her property restored to her, and the time that she walks in, Gehazi is telling the king the story of how Elisha raised her son from the dead. God ordered her steps, and she walked in at the right time. God can and will do the same for His people. He is no respecter of persons.

Elisha’s servant was not wrong in what he saw. He and Elijah were surrounded by an army. The problem with Elijah’s servant was his perspective. Elisha wasn’t concerned about the army. He knew who was with him. He knew that God was with Him, and that God had his back. The servant was only looking at things from a natural perspective instead of looking at things from a spiritual perspective. We have all made that mistake. Instead of looking to God and to what His Word says, we are looking at the circumstances. You cannot look at both. It is okay to acknowledge the situation. Elisha didn’t say the army didn’t exist. He just chose to put His eyes on something else. He chose to focus on the answer, not the problem. When it comes to dealing with negative circumstances, we must choose to focus on what God has said instead of the lies of the enemy. The things that are seen are temporary. The things that are not seen are eternal. If there is nothing too hard for God, then there is nothing too hard for His Word. God and His Word are one.

Through the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, Satan (our adversary) has been rendered ineffective in our lives. The devil may be the god of this world, but we are not of this world. We are in this world, but we are not of it. Our citizenship is in Heaven.(Philippians 3:20 Amplified Classic). When our minds become renewed to the Word of God and when we receive a revelation of who we are in Christ, this truth will become a reality in our lives. Regardless of what Satan may try to do in our lives, eventually that attack will become ineffective. God has given us dominion over Satan and expects us to exercise that authority whenever the devil comes our way. The Word of God instructs us to resist the devil, and he will flee. Stand on God’s Word, use the name of Jesus, and watch as Satan’s power comes to nothing. He is a defeated foe, and God expects us to demonstrate Satan’s defeat every time He comes against us. He expects us to walk in victory everyday of our lives.

Caleb, along with Joshua, was one of the few that came into the Promised Land from the original adult generation. Despite wandering in the Promised Land for forty-five years, Caleb still held on to what God had promised him. Many Christians give up hope if it appears to be taking too long for what they've prayed for. Many are moved by time and sometimes, we as believers have an expectation of how long it should take to realize the fulfillment of an answered prayer. Caleb waited forty-five years, and it appears that he was willing to wait even longer, if necessary, to receive what God had promised him. The Bible tells us that Caleb wholly followed the Lord. When you wholly follow the Lord, you know that it is just a matter of time before the promise becomes a reality. You know that it is an impossibility for God to lie. What a great role model Caleb is to the Body of Christ. Having done all to stand, he stood until he attained what was promised to him. We must do the same. Regardless of how long we might have to wait, we are going to wait until our change comes.

Everyone has been on a job that they weren’t too fond of. Some have even been mistreated while working for other people. Jacob had been mistreated by Laban for many years. Laban deceived him when he thought he was marrying Rachel. He ended up marrying her sister, and Jacob had to work seven more years. Jacob was not treated well by Laban, and yet God still prospered Jacob. Jacob still worked hard for Laban. At the end of the day, God was responsible for the prosperity that Jacob enjoyed. We must also understand that we don’t work as unto a man, we work as unto the Lord. We understand that God will prosper the works of our hands and that God will promote us in time. We must be like Daniel and have an excellent spirit when we are working. Working as unto the Lord helps us to keep our hearts clean toward our superiors, and it keeps our eyes on God. As believers, we must know who our Source is, and we must focus on representing Him. Everything else will work itself out in time. Let's adjust our focus. Let's keep our eyes on God. Every good gift and every perfect gift comes from Him.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | July 6th

God created the heavens and the earth by His words. According to verse six, “He spoke, and it was done. He commanded, and it stood fast”. We must believe in our words. Our words have power. The Bible tells us that, “death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Proverbs 18:21). Ecclesiastes 8:4 says that “where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?” God has made us kings and priests and we are to reign in life as kings. One way we can do that is by using our words to bring good things into our lives. The first part of Proverbs 12:14 tells us, “a man (or woman) shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth.” Let us use our words to bring good into our lives. Even if things do not look good, we must be like God and call things that be not as though they were. Good things happen when good words are spoken.

God has His eye on you. He’s watching your every move. That isn’t something to worry about. That is something to rejoice over. God wants to instruct us and teach us in the way that we should go. He has preordained things for us to walk in and to experience and desires to give us instructions on how to walk in it. He watches over us to guide us. We must cooperate with God and learn His voice. Jesus said His sheep hear His voice, and the voice of a stranger they will not follow. (John 10:4-5). As God watches, He is going before us and making crooked places straight. Let’s allow God to instruct us and teach us. Things always go well when we not only hear, but also heed to what is being said.

God bestowed authority on Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. That authority was lost when they ate of the fruit that God had told them not to eat. Jesus restored that authority through His death, burial, and resurrection. When God gave Adam and Eve authority, He told them to take control of the earth and to rule. God has not changed His mind. The Bible tells us that He has made us kings and priests unto our God (Revelation 1:6). Kings rule. No one challenges the king’s authority. God expects us to rule and reign in the earth. He has given us authority over Satan and every demonic force. He has also given us a Name that is above every name: the name of Jesus. The Bible tells us that “at that name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth” (Philippians 2:10). Walk in your authority today. There isn’t anything that you will encounter, that your authority and the Name of Jesus cannot handle.

God desires for us to live in harmony with everyone. We may not always agree with something someone has said and done. We may not always agree with someone’s belief system, but we can live peaceably with everyone. The Bible tells us that “a soft answer turns away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger” (Proverbs 15:1). If we endeavor to watch what we say to people and how we say it, we can avoid a lot of arguments and misunderstandings. We are to be ministers of reconciliation. We are to bring people towards God and not away from God. Our ability and our willingness to live peaceably with others can make that a reality.
